As food establishments continue to try and adapt to the changes imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canadian public are being called on to support their favorite restaurants on April 15th.
April 3, 2020 — Canada Takeout has announced that Wednesday, April 15th is Takeout Day and they are encouraging Canadians across the country to order takeout or delivery in order to support the struggling food industry.
Due to states of emergencies in place across the country, restaurants have had to close their doors to the pubic and switch to take-out or home delivery models only. This switch has not been without it challenges, with many restaurants still struggling to make sales despite pivoting their services to meet the new requirements.
This is why Canada Takeout has emphasized a significant need for the public to support restaurants in their local area. On their website they state:
“We encourage Canadians across the country to order takeout and/or delivery en-masse in a show of support for their favourite local restaurants. Restaurants are doing their part with contactless delivery/takeout. Now it’s your turn to take an active part in the rescue of an industry that employs millions of people in this country.”
Restaurants can apply to be added to the Restaurant Finder on the website by submitting a form which can be found here. Customers can then use the Restaurant Finder on the website to find a participating restaurant in their area. This initiative is one way that people can help to curb the losses experienced throughout the food industry as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 crisis.
